Artists: Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti are architects, urban planners and artists of international repute. They live and work in Bethlehem. Artforum, one of the most authoritative international magazine of contemporary art based in New York, described their work among the most interesting of the last 10 years. They stated, among other things, the Biennale in Venice, the Biennale in Rotterdam, the Istanbul Biennial and the Museum of Modern Art City of Paris.
Their work: The use of art, architecture and planning for Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti is political. The space is seen not so much as a place of building but a place of human affairs. Through their work propose an investigation into how art can influence the environment, architecture and urban planning of the places we live. In order to feed the reflection on these themes, artists often organize informal exchanges, discussions and round tables, seminars and conferences with intellectuals, writers and professionals to offer a higher degree of awareness of our reality of life. Albissola Marina: "Albissola-Bethlehem. The Thousand and One Nights "is a collective event in which, for a period of 2 weeks, artists, scientists, philosophers, historians and writers will meet in the summer evenings around a communal table prepared to welcome guests to share stories and reflections on art and contemporary culture. From the Bible to the Koran

Performance of "theater poetry "- words and music.
Conceived and directed by Giuseppe Conte.
With the extraordinary participation of the poet and essayist Adonis.
Portrayed by actors: Carla Peirolero and Enrico Campana. With musical accompaniment

The project is to produce a staged reading from the book of Adonis - most living Arab poet - "History in the torn body of a woman" (published by Bloomsbury Publishing), dramatic poem on female freedom from a story, like that of Hagar, the concubine of Abraham, which occurs in the Bible and the Qur'an, and does, therefore, a hinge to the great monotheistic religions.
Giuseppe Conte, poet and writer, who first made known to the general public Adonis Italian, is the author of several collections of poetry (Premio Viareggio 2006) and novels, the last of which "adultery" (Manzoni Award 2008 ) deals with similar themes.
Henry Bell, who plays the male voice is linked firmly to the Theatre of the Cough of Genoa which also Peirolero Carla, who will perform the female role, he worked for fifteen years, before turning to the design and production of shows and intercultural events, founding the Festival of Culture and Multiethnic Society of Suq.


The evening will mark the perfect end of the project "Mediterranean - Dialogues between Art and Poetry," a collaboration between the towns of Marina and Albissola Albisola Superiore (SV). In consideration of the issues that face and develop the entire project can be seen in "Waiting for the Biennale," in anticipation of the 2010 Biennale of the Mediterranean to be held in Genoa.

At the 65th anniversary of the Liberation , the Association Arts Total in collaboration with the Foundation ECM organizing and promoting the fourth edition of the biennial Visual Arts "Resistant Materials," under the patronage of Piedmont and of City of Settimo Torinese.
Continuing with the principles and purposes that animated and characterized its predecessors, will be replicated through some languages \u200b\u200bof visual arts, the themes of peace and freedom such universal values \u200b\u200b that govern human coexistence.
All creative expressions are compared with the great ideals and events of history, and become vehicles of ideas that build pathways to knowledge and reflection. Art resistance and therefore have a common ground in shared principles such as freedom, participation, passion and action.
The 2010 edition will open on April 13 to Museum of the Resistance of Turin, which will be hosted until May 9 , moving from 14 May to 13 June at House of Art and Architecture "The gardening " Settimo Torinese.
This special edition comes with a totally feminine and suggests works of painting , graphics and photography created by 30 artists Piedmont.
The works on display propose as a dominant theme, the relationship between a woman and art in relation to the value of freedom with an explicit reference to Liberation Struggle , all the experiences of resistance and civil wars designed to win dignity and rights denied to women, past and present.
Even the language of art in the historic struggle for the emancipation of women has allowed women the freedom to express one's ideas, feelings and emotions that still Today, in the context of many ethnic realities, social and cultural rights are limited or altogether denied.
Hence the reference in the title of the exhibition, the painter Artemisia Gentileschi woman from the talented artists working in Rome in the seventeenth century, who managed to overcome prejudices and social barriers in a historical context is particularly complex, then a symbol of feminine dignity and freedom of expression gained through his art.
The exhibition will also see the documentary not be afraid! Women who have not surrendered theater project dedicated to the memory "I do not surrender, I surrender !" sponsored by SPI-CGIL Turin, which has involved more than fifty women - the protagonists of the war of liberation in Piedmont and the subsequent battle for the affirmation of social and civil rights - which are told through the language of theater. In a dialogue with many voices and between generations, passed on to younger students who flanked the stage a new sense of history and their own courage not to surrender.
